A couple of random comments:
First, this is the wrong list. Please ask buildroot questions on
the buildroot ML.

And second, AFAIK the buildroot from svn aparently only works for some i386
and a few arm variants. My tree (http://repo.or.cz/w/buildroot.git) was tested
to compile fine on a wider set of arches, fwiw.

And last but not least multilib support in (all) buildroots is not finished, so
don't enable it unless you want to help implementing it.
Apart from that, i would start with gcc-4.3.2 and binutils-2.19 on a fresh setup.

So, as said, please direct your buildroot questions to the buildroot list.
